Jazz Festival
Hundreds of musicians hit the high note in BudeNew Orleans comes to Cornwall! Bude is the small and unspoilt seaside town on Cornwall’s beautiful Atlantic Coast that hosts one of Britain’s leading jazz festivals. The 23rd Bude Jazz Festival will pack 144 jazz events into the seven days from Saturday 28 August to Friday 3 September 2010. A single stroller ticket will give you admission to all but two of these events. Music ranges from blues and ragtime to old-style New Orleans.

Witness for the Prosecution at the Hall for CornwallEmily French, an elderly woman who recently left her considerable estate to the charming young Leonard, is found dead. Murdered. Though he protests his innocence, Leonard quickly becomes the prime suspect. His plea hinges on his wife’s testimony, until the sudden appearance of a mysterious young woman, bearing an unexpected clue. Performed by the Agatha Christie Theatre Company.

Truro Amateur Operatic Society at the MinackBased on Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Mikado, this adapted energetic and exhilarating version will have you tapping your feet with the music changing from blues to swing and hot gospel, and Three Little Maids turned into an Andrew Sister’s showstopper! This zoot suited, tap dancing and colourful show is certain to entertain all the family. Truro’s own amateur society TAODS present Hot Mikado.

Light and Shade
First solo show for Myles at Beside the WaveMyles Oxenford’s exhibition comprises distinct collections of work including noctunes, beaches, estuaries and still lives. Myles is dedicated to exploring the artistic themes of light, reflection and shadow in landscape an still life paintings. His paintings are often begun in the landscape, worked up in the studio and then returned to the landscape again before being finally resolved.

Last Night
Sterts Theatre celebrate with a British traditionThere is nothing quite like the atmosphere of the Last Night of the Proms. A chance to wave your flags, laugh, cry and sing your heart out. The concert will feature the Soundhouse Brass Band from Plymouth. One of the best brass bands in the South West they will perform the Prom classics such as the rousing Rule Britannia, Pomp & Circumstance March No.1, Jerusalem and Fantasy on British Sea Songs.
